The UAAP Cheerdance Competition has finally returned to action for the first time ever since the pandemic!
The competition, however, has new guidelines in line with the new normal. Unlike before, the six-minute routines and 25 performers per team have been reduced. The participating schools are only allowed to have up to 15 participants this year and up to two minutes and 30 seconds of performance.
Today, eight schools competed at the Mall of Asia Arena. In order of performance, these were:
- Ateneo Blue Eagles (formerly the Babble Battalion)
- NU Pep Squad
- University of the Philippines Pep Squad
- Far Eastern University Cheering Squad
- Adamson Pep Squad
- De La Salle Animo Squad
- University of the East Pep Squad
- University of Santo Tomas Salinggawi Dance Troupe
The last UAAP Cheerdance Competition was in 2019 when National University Pep Squad won their sixth title of the last seven seasons. The cheer dance crown was stolen by the Adamson Pep Squad in 2017.
This season, NU Pep Squad won second runner-up and Php 20,000 in cash. Meanwhile, Adamson Pep Squad won first runner-up and took home 30,000 pesos.
This year’s champion, FEU Cheering Squad, took home the 50,000-peso cash prize.
