Each year, thousands of our indigent fellow Filipinos from all over the country are admitted to the General Medicine wards of the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) seeking a cure for their ailments while being handicapped by the prohibitive costs of medical care.
The Sagip Buhay Medical Foundation, Inc. (SAGIP) under the UP-PGH Department of Medicine aims to subsidize crucial diagnostic examinations and life-saving medications for the Department’s indigent patients. Since its conception in 1995, SAGIP has significantly improved the level of care rendered to over 10,000 charity patients by covering the costs of necessary laboratory tests and medicines. We have been able to help more and more patients every year with the help of our loyal patrons. Just last year, we were able to assist around 800 patients with their medical needs, worth nearly two million pesos.
