Facebook launches new avatar feature

Just like Snapchat’s Bitmoji and Apple’s Memoji, Facebook has recently introduced “Avatars,” allowing users to create personalized avatars of themselves to use in the app, including Messenger and Stories.

According to Fidji Simo from Facebook, “So much of our interactions these days are taking place online, which is why it’s more important than ever to be able to express yourself personally on Facebook.”

Simo adds, “Avatars enable you to share a range of emotions and expressions via a digital persona that’s uniquely representative of you, so we’re excited to bring this new form of self-expression to more people around the world.”

According to Simo, these avatars were created to ” react and engage more authentically with family and friends across the app.” Users can also customize the looks and outfits of their own avatars.

The feature was first released in Australia and New Zealand. It was also released in the US last week, but there are no updates on when it will be available in the Philippines. Fingers crossed we get it soon!
