As our way of celebrating this coming Earth Day, UP Bike Share brings you Sabay Lakbay: A Critical Mass Bike Ride and Eco-tour around the city. Join hundreds of bikers in a leisure ride and tour around parks in Quezon City, learn how to ride a bike, and shop and dine in our Sunday market!
Sabay Lakbay takes place along University Avenue, UP Diliman, Quezon City from 6am to 2pm this April 24, 2016.
UP Bike Share
UP Bike Share is a non-profit student-run advocacy whose mission and vision is to create sustainable mobility by promoting clean, fast, and convenient transportation through the use of bike sharing. Right now, UP Bike Share has been providing its free bike sharing service in the UP Diliman campus in which students can benefit.
Sabay Lakbay: An Eco-tour on Bikes
Sabay Lakbay kicks-off with a 15.5 kilometer guided bike tour to select eco-parks around Quezon City – the Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife Center, and Balara National Park. Short activities are also in store for participants in each park!
No experience biking on the road? No worries! The bike tour is designed such that our riders have an easy trip around the city. UP Bike Share has made sure that the bike route is safe, chill, and fun – a journey all bikers, from professional cyclists to the leisure bikers, can enjoy.
Bike Eco Tour Itinerary:
6:30am – Participants assemble along University Avenue (in front of Quezon Hall)
7:00am to 9:00am – Bike Eco Tour (Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife Center and Balara National Park)
9:30am – Arrival at University Avenue, UP Diliman
Participants are required to wear helmets throughout the whole tour and children below 16 years old must be accompanied by an adult.

Free bike lessons
So what can non-bikers do in Sabay Lakbay?
For those eager to learn how to ride a bike but never got the opportunity, now is your chance! Sabay Lakbay offers free bike lessons care of Gear Heroes – an organization that encourages responsible mountain biking as well as provides a venue for riders to hone their biking skills. Bike lessons will run from 7am to 9am along University Avenue, UP Diliman.
Ramp Camp
Aside from free bike lessons, Sabay Lakbay will also have a Ramp Camp! Here, bikers can do some freestyle biking with a bike ramp set-up also care of Gear Heroes.
Sunday Market
To cap-off your Earth Day Celebration at Sabay Lakbay, there will be a Sunday Market set-up along University Avenue. Enjoy a simple breakfast or lunch, with different food concessionaires and booths to choose from! To lessen waste and promote environmental awareness, bringing of reusable food containers and drinking bottles is highly encouraged.
