Exception Music Festival: The Country’s First and Biggest Outdoor Music Festival

When in Manila, music lovers from all over the city came together to unite in the country’s first and biggest outdoor music festival—Exception Music Festival, which took place last November 24 at the Bonifacio Global City grounds. The show started at 4pm, and went on all the way until the wee hours of the morning.

With its goal to take the Philippines into the next and higher level of musical entertainment, Exception Music Festival combined music stars and artists from different genres—both from the local and foreign scene. There were three grand stages, all of which were flocked by a melting pot of Manila’s crowd. The first stage, which was the Freedom Music Stage, featured artists and DJ’s like TYDI, W&W, James Zabiela, Mat Zo, Andy Moor, John Paul Lee, Martin Pulgar, and Marie Garcia. The second, Ministry of Sound Stage, showcased the talented EDX, as well as Stuart Ojelay, Aimee Jay, Chris Raeuber, Alinep, Pav Parrotte, Brian Cua, Jack Stone, Marc Naval, Manolet Santos, and Karl Ty. Lastly, the Live Stage had an incredible line-up of bands like Pedicab, Imago, 6 Cycle Mind, Sandwich, Parokya ni Edgar, Techy Romantics, and Elmer Dado + Gruppo Tribale.

It was really one of the most unique experiences I’ve ever encountered—everybody seemed to be so high on life, and it was definitely due to the awesome music that played in each and every stage. For a really big event, it was also well-organized. The decorations were fantastic—I had fun taking pictures with the big, orange squid and the blue alien! There were food stalls, drinking stations, photo booths with the coolest props, a really fun lounge area, a VIP stage for those who wanted tables, ATM and charging areas, portalets for men and women, stores that sold souvenirs, and even a First Aid post.
