Erik Matti Wins Best Director at the ContentAsia Awards for His Work for HBO

Erik Matti just got another achievement as he was awarded Best Director of a Scripted TV Programme at the first-ever ContentAsia Awards.

He was recognized for directing the “Island of Dreams” episode of HBO Asia’s original series Food Lore. His episode follows Nieves, played by Angeli Bayani, who moves to Metro Manila to become a domestic worker to provide for her family. Upon returning home to attend an annual fiesta, she becomes estranged to them.

“Island of Dreams” is the first episode of the eight-part series. The episode was written by Michiko Yamamoto, Matti’s wife.

Meanwhile, Food Lore was awarded as the Best Asian Drama for Regional/International Market. Bayani was nominated for Best Actress.

The ContentAsia Awards recognizes “outstanding content at a time of giant change in the way we go about keeping audiences entertained and informed.” It adds, “content consumption is sky high, great content is in massive demand, and there’s really never a bad time to be celebrating the best of it.”
