Erik Matti Airs Out Thoughts on Yet Another Vice Ganda Film Being Chosen for MMFF

Award-winning director Erik Matti didn’t hold back with his thoughts after discovering that yet another installment of Vice Ganda’s “Praybeyt Benjamin” series is among the accepted entries for this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival.

The director, behind films On the Job (2013), Honor Thy Father (2015), and, BuyBust (2018), took to Facebook to express dismay at the announcement of “Praybeyt Benjamin 3” and at how the selection process for the film festival has remained unchanged.

Bagsak na nga ang pelikula, sumara na [ABS-CBN], Praybeyt Benjamin pa rin palabas sa Pasko? Walang nagbago a! (The film industry is down, ABS-CBN has closed down, yet “Praybeyt Benjamin” is still going to show this Christmas? Nothing’s changed, huh!)” he wrote.

“5 months lockdown. Thousands of content binged. Biggest network closes. Praybeyt Benjamin. We never learned,” he added.

It was on Friday, July 17, when the MMFF revealed the first four entries of the December festival which included the Vice Ganda sequel, Joshua Garcia’s “Ang Mga Kaibigan ni Mama Susan,” Jun Urbano’s “Magiklandm” and Toni and Alex Gonzaga’s “The Exorcism of My Siszums.”
