Epilogue: A Gastronomic Adventure Around the World

04Epilogue 17

Norway

Next up was Norway, their unique version of sashimi with Cured Salmon, Poireaux Vinaigrette, Lumpfish Caviar, Moscato Cube, and Yuzu. This is the dish that really took my breath away. See, I am not a fan of sashimi, so I was kind of hesitant at first; but after just one bite, I got hooked by the salmon! Everything on my plate went perfectly well together, so much so that I started to love the Cured Salmon. This is definitely a must-try at Epilogue.

04Epilogue 18

French Foie Gras

The 4th dish that was served to us was the French Foie Gras, a dish with Eggplant Compote, Balsamic Reduce, and Wild Arugula. Foie Gras is considered a luxury food product made of fattened duck or goose liver. It tastes like our very own Bulalo, in my opinion.

04Epilogue 19

Crispy Amadai

For the 5th dish, we got the Crispy Amadai with Clam Creamy Foam, Vegetables, and Moringa (malunggay) Risotto This was hands down our favorite dish. When people say that there is no such thing as perfect, I beg to differ as Chef Meno has cooked this Crispy Amadai to perfection. It is fried to the point that you can easily eat the fish skin without it feeling icky in your mouth. The Moringa Risotto and Clam Creamy Foam perfectly complement the Amadai, as well, making it even more flavorful. It is so good, I couldn’t stop raving about it even after we finished our whole meal.

04Epilogue 20

Wagyu MB5

In my personal opinion, Epilogue’s Wagyu MB5 practically puts every Wagyu beef cooked and served in our country to shame. This dish is served with Celeriac Apple, Caramelized Onion Puree, Green Pepper, and Spring Onion; and I just cannot express how perfectly cooked the Wagyu steak is. I am not a fan of medium-rare steak; but for this one, I am willing to eat as much as I can. I love how the sauce gives the Wagyu’s juiciness justice. Chef Meno really knows what perfection means.

04Epilogue 21

Banana Tart

To end the sumptuous 7-course meal, we had Banana Tart for dessert. Chef Meno made sure that we finished our filling meal on a high note by serving this pastry with Almond Cream, Caramelized Banana, Vanilla Ice Cream, and Caramel Sauce. I must say: nothing was more perfect than serving this after going through all of those courses. What I love about their Banana Tart is its homey touch similar to Turon. It is wrapped in a baked phyllo, perfectly balancing out all of the sweetness. I also want to rave about how good their Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream is. Its sweetness is just right and not nakakaumay at all.

04Epilogue 15

Iced Café Mocha (Php180) and Iced Matcha Latte (Php220)

The Degustation Menu usually comes with coffee or tea, but we opted not to get any because we had the drinks above instead.

The Degustation Menu’s price depends on the number of courses you get, and the dishes served vary depending on what Chef Meno decides to have in store for you.

If you don’t want to get the Degustation Menu, though, you can opt for something off of their equally sumptuous a la carte menu instead. They have Introduction (appetizers), Half Title (tapas), Preface (soups and salads), Dedication (pasta), Foreword (pizza). Their bestsellers are the Wagyu and Prosciutto e Rucola, Title Page (sandwiches), Chapter & Verse (mains), and lastly, yes, you guessed it right—Afterword (desserts).

04Epilogue 3

They also have sumptuous pastries and bread made by their Executive Baker Tomohide Ono. From 5pm onwards, they cut the prices of their pastry products by 30%, so you can hoard all you want at their mini bakery. All the pastry products they sell in Epilogue are freshly baked at their bakeshop.

04Epilogue 4

I love how they sell their products at really reasonable prices (around Php100 to Php200) despite them being made by world class chefs.

04Epilogue 12

Epilogue made us go out of our comfort zones with every dish that they served. I love how I got to explore my tastebuds’ capacity and enjoyed every bite of their dishes. I promise you: with every spoonful, you will feel like you are being transported to different places around the world. In the four hours that we spent dining in Epilogue, it felt like I visited France, Spain, and Japan. No need to travel to eat! Just bring your wallets and an adventurous appetite!

Epilogue is the perfect place for any occasion, may it be a fun date night, an anniversary celebration, a birthday, a graduation, Mother’s Day, or simply just to treat yourself to a sumptuous meal.
