“Godzilla” is getting an anime treatment and it looks epic. Aside from that, it will come with a new synopsis.
The animated film with the title “Godzilla: Monster Planet” will be set on (and off) an Earth where Godzilla and army of Kaiju took over the planet at the end of the 20th century. This pushed humanity to find a new home in the stars. It will follow the life of a young man named Haruo, who wants to get revenge against Godzilla for killing his parents back on Earth.
According to a rough translation of the synopsis, things don’t go too well for humankind from there:
The emergence of gigantic monsters “kaiju” and the ultimate creation that can even destroy the kaijus, Godzilla. After a half-century of the war against the kaijus, the human race repeatedly defeated and decided to escape from the Earth. Then finally in the year 2048, only people who were chosen by the artificial intelligence under the control of the central government went on board the interstellar immigrant ship Aratrum and left for the “Cetus: Planet Tau E”, 11.9 light years away from the earth. But the environmental condition difference between the earth and Tau E, which took 20 years to reach, was far exceeded the predicted value, and there was no way to survive for the human race.
“Godzilla: Monster Planet” is for release in theaters in Japan in November. It will come worldwide later this year on Netflix.
