Enderun Colleges hosted the Sustainable Enterprise Summit at The Tent at Enderun on May 17, 2016. Organized by Enderun Extension, Enderun Colleges’ resource for continuing education and JCI Manila, the oldest leadership development organization in Asia, the Sustainable Enterprise Summit became the perfect platform for those interested in learning more about sustainable practices in corporations. The Summit brought over 200 green-minded participants together for an entire day full of inspiring presentations and discussions about sustainability.

People from the corporate world, small businesses, academics, government representatives, NGOs, and other interested groups were able to share stories and learn from one another.

Rami Villavicencio, President of JCI Manila, did the Opening Remarks, followed by an introduction to The Summit by Bryan Benitez McClelland, Director of Sustainability at Enderun Colleges and Founder and CEO of Bambike. “We were very encouraged by the turn out of the event and we are looking forward to the next Sustainable Enterprise Summit in 2017” – he said after the Summit.

Keynote speaker Jim Ayala, Founder and Ceo at Hybrid Social Solutions, Inc; Founder and Chair at Stiftung Solarenergie Philippines and Network Partner at Hystra Inc., was in charge of the opening remarks that were followed by the first of the four discussion panels.

The topic of the first panel was Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainable Strategies. Atendees had the chance to listen to representatives from some of the top corporations in the country sharing their success stories in their respective sustainability journeys.

Anna Maria Gonzales, Sustainability Manager at Ayala Land Inc. focused her presentation on how to successfully integrate sustainable practices into a Business, and how this is not longer perceived as the right thing to do, but rather as an imperative for a company to sustain itself and continue relevant in the future.

Atty, Michael T. Toledo, Head at the MVP Group of Companies Media Bureau and SVP for Public and Regulatory Affairs at Philez Mining Corp, and Ritzi V.

Ronquillo, VP and Head of Communication and Corporate Affairs, Holcim Philippines, Inc; also focused their presentations on the need for companies to “go green”.

The second part of the Summit focused on Green Buildings and Sustainable Communities and started with a panel in which the bloom in green building construction worlwide was discussed.

Julia Nebrija, Urban Planner and Executive Director at Viva Manila, and Christopher Dela Cruz, CEO at Philippine Green Building Council discussed Trends in Sustainable Urban Planning and Public-Private Partnership for Green Buildings respectively.

Social Entrepeneurship was the main topic of the thrid discussion panel. Marco Lobegrat, Founder at Ministry of Mushrooms focused his talk on Corporate Social Responsibility; Anna Meloto-Wilk, Co-founder at Human Heart Nature talked about  Scaling Up Green Products Globally, while Cherrie Atilano, Founder at Agrea focused on Sustainable Food Systems and Henry Motte-Munoz, Founder at Edukasyon and Co-founder at Bantay.ph shared their insights in information technology for Social Entrepeneurship.

Innovations in Clean Fuels and Renewable Energy was the topic of the fourth and last panel,  with “clean energies” as the center of the discussion. James P. Buskowitz, Chairman and CEO at Buskowitz Development, Inc; Dennis Posadas, Cleantech Consultant and Author, and Ditmar Gorges, Founder and CEO at First Environtech Alliance Corporation, shared their knowledge on the latest industry trends and innovative technologies.
