Actor-athlete Enchong Dee has recently become known as someone unafraid to give his candid thoughts on the turbulent politics of the Philippines. In fact, it’s become such a defining part of his persona that people have been encouraging him to run for public office.
A report from Pilipino Star Ngayon gives us Enchong’s take on that.
Kasi yung public service pwede mo siyang gawin kahit hindi ka nakaupo,” he said. [In all honesty, I don’t want to run. There are so many people telling me I should run. But public service is somethig I can do without holding a seat.]
Lagi kong sinasabi walang presyo yung peace of mind.”
[We all know what really happens in politics. It’s better that I live my life freely and quietly. That I can leave the house safely and without anyone looking at or targeting me. I always say there is no price to having peace of mind.]
If I can do it in a way na wala ako sa gobyerno, mas okay ako.”
[My only reason is that I love my country. I want all us Filipinos to be enriched. That’s all I want. If I can do it in a way that I’m not part of the government, then I prefer that.]
