Emma Watson Clears The Air On “Being Dropped” From La La Land

Sweeping this year’s Oscars nominations, musical hit La La Land could have gotten a completely different lead from Best Actress-winning Emma Stone.

Another Emma, in the form of Emma Watson was due to star in it instead, and reports have surfaced claiming that the English actress became “too demanding”, only agreeing to take the role if the film would take place in London.

However, Watson cleared the air and explained the real reason why she wasn’t attached to the movie:

“It’s one of these things where sort of names get involved in projects early on as a way to kind of build anticipation or excitement for something that’s coming before anything is really actually agreed or set in stone.”

Meanwhile, Miles Teller was originally going to star in Ryan Gosling’s place as well, with stories alleging that the actor asked for $2 million more than what was offered.

One could argue that Emma Watson missed out on an award-winning opportunity, but hey, there’s that Beauty and the Beast remake to look forward to.
