Take nothing but pictures. Leave nothing but footprints. Kill nothing but time. – John Muir
These are the words that I always try to remember whenever I travel. Being able to explore different places and connect with a lot of people remind me of the importance of giving back the respect that all living creatures and cultures deserve.
Over the years, I have tried my best to use the responsible traveling tips that I learned from friends and fellow travelers, as well as those I read on the Internet. Most of these tips are about minimizing one’s waste and carbon footprint, such as saying no to plastic bags and making use of recyclable and reusable products (utensils, in particular) instead. I am highly supportive of this idea. However, one major challenge is figuring out how to still pack light with all of the stuff that I want to bring.
That is why I was beyond stoked when I was introduced to Sip ‘n’ Stash, an eco-friendly collapsible cup by Daydream Republic, the same brand behind the first-ever pin-your-travel maps in the Philippines.
These cups are part of the brand’s zero waste line of products that encourages people to be more aware and responsible of the waste that they produce.
Sip ‘n’ Stash was first launched in a tall size, but now they have a grande size (450ml), as well. Despite the bigger size, it is also very compact (just 2 inches when collapsed!). “Whenever I buy zero waste products, my main consideration is: is it travel friendly? For me, if I can use it conveniently during travels, given limited space, [then it is] much easier to sustain it daily in city living,” says Ms. Sasa Bacani, the brains and hands behind Daydream Republic.
Hot and Cold
My favorite things about these collapsible cups is that they are perfect for both hot and cold drinks (up to 200C), BFA free, and have carrier rings that make it easier for you to hang them on your bags when collapsed. Bonus points because they come in pretty colors!
At Php550 each, these cups don’t come off as cheap. However, if you look at the quality and the purpose of the product, you might want to give it a try.
