The Environmental Advocates Reaching Towards Humanity-UST (EARTH-UST) will be conducting its very first film-making competition later this month. The goal of this project is to encourage unified involvement, empower, and promulgate environmental awareness most especially to the youth. Aligned with its vision and mission as being the premier university-wide, student based environmental organization of the University of Santo Tomas, EARTH-UST established within its core the very essence of environmentalism as being catalysts of change and development. “Sinelaysay: Kabatiran sa Balangkas ng Kaligiran” which means raising awareness with regards to the preservation of the environment will be an indoor film-making competition catered to exhibit their advocacy towards the environment by igniting their creativity and innovativeness through showcasing their skills and talents in the art of film-making.
In celebration of its 31st year of existence, the theme for the film-making competition shall revolve around the official year-round hashtags of EARTH-UST: #b3ONEwithEarth and #DefendersResist (unified involvement in the pursuit of environmental justice). Registration starts on October 27, 2020 and participants are expected to submit their films from November 10 – December 12. A platform shall be set for the film viewing of the submitted films scheduled on December 19, 2020 and it shall be open to the general public. A winner for best picture will be chosen and will receive an amazing cash prize worth 2,000 pesos.
