Don’t panic: it’s organic… and medicinal.
Amidst his famous war against drugs that will start once he is sworn into presidency, president-elect Rodrigo Duterte said that he is open to allowing marijuana for medical purposes, according to news reports.
Allowing the drug for medicinal use does not equate to fully legalizing the drug even for recreational purposes, as Duterte has also stressed that he will never allow recreational marijuana.
According to Duterte, marijuana is a component of modern medicine, and that drugs that are being developed or are already in the market contain marijuana for medicinal use.
In 2004, Isabela Rep. Rodolfo Albano III authored House Bill 04477, also known as the Compassionate Use of Medical Cannabis Act, which seeks to legalize marijuana for medicinal purposes.
