President Rodrigo Duterte is considering a nationwide ban on firecrackers for the coming New Year, according to local reports.
 A firecracker ban in Davao City has long been enacted in relation to injuries and even deaths caused by firecrackers during the New Year.
However, Duterte is leaving it to the Cabinet to decide on this, because of other factors.
Duterte said:
There will be loss of business, economic, whatever, social, everything. So I would need the Cabinet to decide. It will be a cabinet decision.
