Duck and Buvette: A Homey and Intimate Place for Great Food And Great Moments!

 

Duck and Buvette (or simply called D&B) opened last June 2014 at the EDSA Shangri-La Mall and was the previous Cafe Provencal. They underwent a complete makeover, placing quirky designs into the place, including a beautiful floor with ornate duck patterns and a stained rustic ceiling made out of old pallets that made the place extra homey.

Duck and Buvette offers menu choices much like a French style tapas restaurant where they create an ambiance fit for intimate moments with your loved ones. Start your delicious dining with their wonderful salads like the Grilled Romaine Salad or the Grilled Octopus Salad. Both selections are equally good starters for a wonderful meal. Another must try is their Angus Meatballs, stuffed with feta cheese and fresh crushed tomato sauce, and fried to perfection.

French cuisine never misses pasta, so a wonderful plate of Duck Ragu Pappardelle made out of stewed Spanish onions, fresh mushrooms, duck confit, tomato and red wine on thick, fresh made pasta will hit the spot. Looking for something healthy to munch on? Try one of their fabulous Truffle Roasted Cauliflower, char-roasted and drizzled with white truffle oil and garlic olive oil.

A plate of sandwiches sounds nice, but is especially nice when you taste their Bikini Sandwich, Catalan-style grilled cheese sandwich with Parma ham and black truffle spread. One of our group’s favorite was their Crispy Potato Pave and Salty Duck Egg  with cubes of fried potato layers, topped with salty duck egg and creme fraiche.

Plated in mushrooms and gravy lies a French-style cut of USDA Prime Paleron Steak and Duck Frites, cooked in rare or medium-rare style the way the restaurant usually does makes it a succulent steak meal. Bacon is love and what’s more interesting is that they served it in a more unusual way, Maple Candied Bacon and Lemon just gave the simple bacon a stunning, exquisite twist and became our favorite!

Of course, one shouldn’t miss ordering a duck dish if you are in a duck restaurant, either. The D&B Crispy Half Duck Confit is an amazing dish deliciously made with a crispy and flavorful skin to the tender meat inside and is paired perfectly with ratatouille rice and cranberry carrots.
