Dragon Ball Z’s Goku gets ‘Studio Ghibli makeover’

Growing up with Dragon Ball Z, most of us are accustomed to seeing Goku in a certain kind of way. Still, it is fun to see when things get shaken up a bit and one of our childhood superheroes gets a makeover, especially getting the new look from a beloved animation film studio like Studio Ghibli.

Of course, we would love to see Hayao Miyazaki’s treatment on Goku, but the guy if probably busy with upcoming Studio Ghibli films.

Good thing, we can still enjoy it even without Miyazaki re-drawing Goku.

A fan transformed Goku into a Studio Ghibli-ish character.

Eris (@eris_snail on Instagram) shared the new look of Goku with a Studio Ghibli makeover.

This caught the attention of the studio and shared it on their Facebook page.

Fans started chiming in about this change. Almost everyone loved it.

One commented that this version of Goku looked like Ponyo.

Ponyo is a Studio Ghibli animated movie released in 2008.

During a forbidden excursion to see the surface world, a goldfish princess encounters a human boy named Sosuke, who gives her the name Ponyo. Ponyo longs to become human, and as her friendship with Sosuke grows, she becomes more humanlike. Ponyo’s father brings her back to their ocean kingdom, but so strong is Ponyo’s wish to live on the surface that she breaks free, and in the process, spills a collection of magical elixirs that endanger Sosuke’s village.
