DOTr: Students Can Now Ride Select Trains for FREE on Weekdays

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has announced on Thursday, June 27, on their official Facebook page that students can now start riding a handful of major train systems in Metro Manila for absolutely free!

According to DOTr Secretary Arthur P. Tugade, students can now ride the MRT-3, LRT-2, and PNR for FREE on Mondays to Fridays (except holidays) during select times in the morning and the afternoon. Students are also given an exemption from terminal fees from Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) airports and Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) seaports.

The free train rides will be available starting July 1 with the following schedules:

  • MRT-3: At 5:00 – 6:30AM and from 3:00 – 4:30PM
  • LRT-2: At 5:00 – 6:00AM and from 3:00 – 4:00PM
  • PNR: At 5:00 – 6:00AM and from 3:00 – 4:30PM

Meanwhile, the PPA will start waiving terminal fees for students starting July 16 and the CAAP on August 1, 2019.
