DOTr Adds Buses and Routes to Help Health Workers Get to Hospitals

When the national government implemented a month-long enhanced commmunity quarantine in Luzon on March 17, one of its directives was the ban on public transportation. People began wondering how health workers will get to hospitals, especially those without cars. Thankfully, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) addressed the issue by rolling out free bus services to help frontliners get to hospitals.

Today, the department announced that it is adding buses and routes to serve more people.

Below are the nine routes that health workers can avail:

North West Area

The routes are still subject to change depending on the data and requests coming from the Department of Health (DOH).

Buses will transport passengers at 5:00AM, 1:00PM, 5:00PM, and 9:00PM to the abovementioned routes, and vice versa. More than 70 buses are committed to transporting health workers for free along the specified routes.

According to DOTr, the bus service will likewise comply with DOH containment protocols such as the observance of social distancing, body temperature checks, and regular disinfecting of vehicles. Drivers and health workers will also be given food and water.

The same bus service scheme is also being advised to be replicated for all regions in Luzon while the enhanced community quarantine is being enforced.
