The Department of Tourism (DOT) announced that Miss Universe 2017 will not be held in the Philippines.
“No Miss Universe this year. Baka next year,” said DOT Secretary Wanda Teo at the International Conference on Sustainable Tourism for Development on Thursday.
In May, Secretary Teo said that the hosting rights of the Miss Universe pageant was offered to the Philippines for November. During that time, it was also said that the Miss Universe Organization was pleased on how we hosted the previous pageant.
Last January, the Philippines was the host of the pageant. Our very own Pia Wurtzbach did her final walk then and Iris Mittenaere from France won the crown.
