DOH Confirms Two More COVID-19 Deaths, Total Now at 8

The Philippines’ official death toll due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has risen to 8 after the Department of Health announced that two more patients have died, apart from the one announced earlier today, March 14.

The DOH is still currently gathering more information on the two new patients who have passed away. One of them was the mortality announced by the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Medical Center in San Fernando, Pampanga who confirmed in a statement that the patient had tested positive for the virus.

The 6th death reported this morning was the country’s 40th confirmed case who had died in the late evening of March 13 from Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome due to Severe Pneumonia with concomitant Acute Kidney Injury. He was 54 years old with no travel history abroad. He was admitted to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center last March 3.
