Newly engaged Derek Ramsay has spoken up once again about his past romance with former costar Andrea Torres and has revealed new details about his breakup, finally shedding light on what had happened.
Speaking with Cristy Fermin on the radio talkshow “Cristy Per Minute,” Derek shared that their relationship eventually failed when they couldn’t see eye to eye anymore.
“‘Yung sa amin ni Andrea, it was actually may problema na nangyari na, I guess, nagbigay sa akin ng sign na, I think, this relationship, our views… ‘yung problemang ‘yon, ‘yung values namin, ng isa’t isa, is not the same,” he said.
“Hindi mali ‘yung values niya, hindi mali ‘yung values ko. Pero ganito ako pinalaki, ganoon siya pinalaki. Hindi ko na aatakihin ‘yon, hindi ko siya babaguhin. Hindi niya ako babaguhin.”
It was then that he decided to just end things with the 30-year-old actress, whom he had been dating for a year.
“I think it’s just best na kumalas na tayo ngayon rather than lalaki pa, and then two, three years down the road, maghihiwalay tayo. Babalikan natin ito kasi nga iba ang views natin sa problemang ‘yan, and it’s a waste of time and it’s a waste of effort… masakit, di ba?”
Surprisingly, Derek admitted that the entire conversation regrettably happened over the phone.
“‘Yun lang yung siguro, kung may regret ako is that it came up over the phone,” he said. “Actually, dapat magkikita kami noon, ang nangyari, it came up over the phone, pero with no disrespect. Hindi namin dinisrespect ang isa’t isa. She agreed also.”
It was last November when rumors of their breakup spread after the two removed all their photos together and unfollowed each other on Instagram.
They both confirmed the split a few days after.
In January, Derek once again became the subject of rumors when he was being teased by friends for becoming close with Ellen Adarna. They were then spotted on multiple occasions going on trips together. It was in February when they finally admitted that they were dating and got engaged at the end of March.
