A student of of College of Fine Arts Design in a top University in Manila posted this photo on Facebook which show the restrictions in hair and uniform.
Some say that the point of studying arts or design is to freely express themselves in order to have inspiring outcomes with their work. With these rules, they are also restricted in possibly having ideas outside of the box. While others say that students should follow rules regardless of what they are studying.
What is your stance or opinion with this issue? We would love to know!
Long hair na pala nag sasabi ngayon kung magiging rebelde ka or hindi. Funny argument we got there.
[Rhetorical questions to think about] Pag lalake, bawal magpahaba ng buhok, pag babae, pwede.
As a creative artist, graphic designer, web designer and photographer, I think this should be applicable in high school only but in college students should be more matured and have more freedom to do anything with themselves (particularly in arts) as long as with proper responsibility that won’t cause nuisance to others. When I studied in London, most of the students in College of Arts can do anything or wear anything because we don’t wear any uniform as well anyway. But again it depends if the university have policy and requiring you to wear uniform, then I think you have no choice but to follow these rules because the moment you signed and enter the school you agreed to follow their policy and rules otherwise you can study anywhere else that will fit your needs. When these arts students will graduate, eventually they will be forced to cut their hair (in a decent way) anyway when they’re looking for jobs in a coporate world and/or meet clients (for freelance or own business). I have a German friend who have long green dyed hair and piercing in lips and ears in college, now when I saw him he’s very clean with shaved head and no piercing at all.
