Davao City Dethrones Manila in World’s Worst Traffic Index for 2024

Move out of the way, Manila! The capital city is now officially dethroned for having the worst traffic in the Philippines.

In a report published by the 2024 TomTom Traffic Index, Davao City makes its way into the top ten of the worst traffic in city centers worldwide. The traffic index features 500 cities across 62 countries, evaluating their average travel time and congestion level.

Davao City ranked eighth on the list, with the average travel time per ten kilometers was 32 minutes and 59 seconds. Additionally, motorists lost about 136 hours on the road due to the rush-hour traffic.

However, the data also shows this is 30 seconds faster than the average travel time in 2023.

Meanwhile, Manila clinched the 14th place. Commuters and motorists in the capital city spent an average of 32 minutes and 10 seconds of travel time per ten kilometers while they lost 127 hours per year due to traffic congestion.

Caloocan City also debuted on the ranking! Travelers had spent 27 minutes and 20 seconds per ten kilometers on the road.

The city with the worst traffic worldwide went to Barranquilla, Colombia. Motorists had to sit through 36 minutes and 6 seconds to travel ten kilometers while they spent 130 hours in traffic.
