This Halloween weekend, we’ve seen almost everyone we know dressed up as characters from the Netflix show that is currently taking the world by storm, “Squid Game.” But among the many Filipino celebrities who chose to put on “Squid Game” inspired outfits, Darren Espanto was one of the lucky ones to have caught the attention of the show’s protagonist!
It was on Instagram that Darren showed off his costume wherein he channeled the energy of Officer Hwang Jun-Ho, a rogue police officer who goes undercover in the deadly games in order to find the whereabouts of his missing brother who had joined the competition years ago.
“Officer Hwang Jun-Ho at your service,” Darren said in the caption of his post filled with pictures he took while wearing his costume.
Many of his friends in the showbiz industry couldn’t help but be in awe of how much he resembled the character, who was played by Wi Ha-Joon.
“NASAAN YUNG DIFFERENCE (Where is the difference?!),” Your Face Sounds Familiar Kids contender Krystal Brimner exclaimed in the comments.
“Sobrang kamukha (You really look like him),” photographer Andrea Beldua said.
“GAYANG GAYA! (You nailed it!)” dancing prodigy Niana Guerrero gushed.
“Kamukha mo bro! (You look like him, bro!)” actor Ruru Madrid noted.
In the sea of praises that Darren received, the one notification he was so happy to receive was from Ha-Joon himself, who had “liked” the Instagram pic.
“NO WAAAAY Wi Ha-Joon liked my post!!!” Darren cried on a Twitter post, sharing the screenshot that showed that Ha-Joon had indeed seen and “hearted” the post.
