When In Manila and inclined with the Pinoy dance community then The Crew’s dance concert must have been part of your “dance-concerts-to-watch” list. It was surely part of mine, mainly because for me, The Crew has been the crème de la crème of all dancers here in the Philippines ever since. True enough, they’ve recently umphed their status in the world of dance by bagging the championship title of this year’s World International Hip Hop competition. (commonly known as “worlds”)

The event was hosted none other by Jerome Dimalanta. He’s the director and founder of UP Streetdance Club, the home organization of The Crew in UP.

The concert started with The Crew’s winning dance piece. It’s the exact same dance we see here. And I must say, watching it live gave me the creeps! There was too much swag and style in one dance, too much fo me to handle. Amazing! It was the best way to open their dance concert.
The following dance routines were thematic. Love, passion, soul, success, strength and camaraderie; all of which equates to a limitless group and a limitless dance.
Love: a lyrical hip hop dance to Apo’s “panalangin”
Passion: a jazz/contemporary dance
Soul: an expressive dance towards freedom
Success: a dance that featured popping, locking and breaking
Strength: a dance to Eminem’s songs.
(Top) UPSDC’s World’s Megacrew piece that won third place (Bottom) Another winning competition dance from UPSDC
Camaraderie: a comedic dance from the boys and girls of The Crew
Limitless also had quite a number of guest dance groups that presented a distinct fusion of sexy and swag numbers. My favorite dance among them all was the Maneuvers’ dance to Michael Jackson’s songs. Classy and timeless, just like their group!
(L-R) The Prject, Philippine Allstars, MY crew, A-Team
(L-R) Legit Status, UPLB’s SJDC and The Maneuvers
Finale dance from The Crew
Overall it was one heck of a dance concert, jampacked with different styles, themes and different crews. It was certainly the best way to conclude all the dance concerts I’ve watched this year.
