Cow Bell Steak Cafe: Tasty and Affordable Steaks for Your Beefy Fix!

When in Manila, steak cravings are the most notorious and hardest ones to curb! Because quality steak restaurants around the metro can get a bit pricey, satisfying your carnivorous cravings are often reserved for special occasions/payday. That’s why I’m especially happy about affordable steak cafés that have recently sprouting about the city! One particular discovery is Cow Bell Steak Café along Jupiter Street in Makati.

Bright interiors and white brick walls, very roomy and cozy at the same time.

Unlike your standard fancy steak house, Cow Bell Steak Café is bright, cheery and definitely not intimidating. The place simply welcomes you to sit back and enjoy your steak without any fuss or frills, which I really liked. Nothing makes a meal more inviting than the perfect setting, so you could imagine how excited we were to try Cow Bell’s dishes!

For a steak café, Cow Bell sure has something for everyone. They’ve covered most of the classic menu items such as creamy soups and salads for diet-conscious, as well as pastas and seafood dishes. They even have Grilled Chicken skewers! I am oftentimes put off by restaurants that attempt to offer “a little bit of everything” and in doing so fall short of quality and menu cohesion in their efforts to please every palate, but I have to make a little exception for Cow Bell Café, who happens to offer “everything” quite well.

My personal favorites included their Chili Cheese Fries that had lots of beef and chili toppings, and their Fish and Chips, which was crisp on the outside and buttery soft and flaky on the inside. Their Cow Bell Burger is worth a mention as well, it features a sizeable beef patty made from a mix of sirloin and rib eye meat, topped with a big slice of melted cheese and veggies.

As for their steaks, Cow Bell offers that perfect fix to ease you through your penny-pinching steak craving with their selection of cuts that are imported fresh from the U.S. Their steaks are all reasonably priced and taste just right; you’ll definitely get your money’s worth here. Their Black Angus Ribeye was juicy, adequately seasoned and quite tender; the butter that melted away as the steak was served added a nice and flavourful touch. And for only PHP 990 for 10 oz and PHP 1160 for 12 oz, it was quite a good deal!

For a sweet and cutesy name, Cowbell sure offers some seriously filling eats and notable steak. They’ve just opened a few months ago, so they are still in the process of smoothing out operations. I look forward to seeing how steak lovers will find this place, but for common foodies like myself, I have no qualms about going back here a second time, just to have my steak fix when in Manila.
