Could This Woman From Negros Occidental Be the Oldest Living Person in the World

For those who have seen Death Becomes Her, they know that the premise of the movie is immortality. Isabella Rossellini’s character Lisle Von Rhuman imperially declares in one scene, “Sempre vive! Live forever!” One woman from Negros Occidental might be taking that heart, because at 118 years old, Francisca Susano is possibly the oldest living person in the world.

The Gerontology Research Group is currently verifying Susano’s records for the Guinness World Records. If her records prove to be accurate, Susano will beat Emma Martina Luigia Morano, and Italian who was proclaimed the oldest living person in the world at 116 years old last year.

According to her grandson Ernesto Susano, Francisca was born on September 11, 1897, and has more than 100 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She currently resides in Oringao, Kabankalan, Negros Occidental.

Her secret, she eats fresh vegetables from her farm, which she cooks without any additives. In fact, she can still walk on her own and play the flute.
