Netizen Juliet S. shared this story on Facebook, and follows an incident where the Bureau of Immigration suggested that her brother has the same name as a killer in Bulacan. When he decided to call her (Juliet is a lawyer), the officials dropped the matter, saying, “okay na po” (It’s now okay).
According to Juliet:
Na hold siya sa Immigration at ang sabi may kapangalan daw siyang taga Bulacan at killer daw. Ask ng kuya ko ano daw ang kaso, at sinabi niya hindi siya taga Bulacan kundi taga Sta. Rosa, Laguna siya. At paanong magkakaroon siya ng kaso samantalang pabalik balik na lang siya ng Pilipinas at Dubai?
(He was held in Immigrationand was told that he shared a name with a killer in Bulacan. My brother asked what the case was and he said he’s not from Bulacan but from Sta. Rosa, Laguna. And how could he have a case when he shuttles back and forth between the Philippines and Dubai?)
When the brother called Juliet, the mood changed.
Tinawagan ko ang kuya ko sabi ko kuhanan ng picture yung isang lalaking kalbo at dalawang babae na nag hold sa kanya at kunin ang pangalan. Ipinakita pa ng kuya ko ang mga dala niyang bagong kuhang NBI at police clearance kasi ginamit niya yun sa pag renew ng license niya. Tapos sabi ko sa kuya ko ipakausap ako dun sa mga nag hold sa kanya. Sabi ng kuya ko dun sa kalbong taga Immigration kakausapin siya ng kapatid niyang abogado, which is ako. Sabi ba naman daw, “Hindi na, sir, wag na po. Okay na.” Kasi nung kausap daw ako ng kuya ko sa mobile unti unti na daw lumalayo yung mga taga Immigration na nag hold sa kanya.
(I called my brother and told him to take a picture and get the names of the bald guy and the two women who held him. My brother even showed his new NBI and police clearance because he used it to renew his license. I told him to let me speak to the guy. When my brother told him that his lawyer sister wanted to talk to him, he said, “No, sir, it’s okay. There’s no need.” While my brother was talking to me, he noticed that the people who held him were backing away.)
