A male Pembroke Welsh Corgi named Dalbong bagged the World Winner award at the recently concluded World Dog Show 2023 in Geneva, Switzerland!
He is the first dog from the Philippines to receive the title. Aside from that, Dalbong also won the Best of Breed award. His owner Wency Villanueva took to social media to share his success.
“I am delighted to announce that Dalbong has obtained his World Winner title along with becoming the SWISS CHAMPION. I am immensely proud of you, my son, Dalbong!” he wrote.
According to Villanueva, Dalbong competed with 131 corgis, 1,592 herding dogs, and 55 herding dog breed winners. He also thanked his team, the judges, and everyone who supported them at the competition.
The owner dedicated their win to their fellow exhibitors, “This win is not just for us, but for all my fellow exhibitors who dream of becoming world champions one day. Never lose faith in yourself and always believe in your dog. If you think your dog has what it takes, keep pushing forward! Never give up and love your passion until you achieve success.”
In a separate post, Villanueva uploaded a photo of himself carrying Dalbong as they proudly posed along with the Philippine flag and their awards.
“We are so happy to wave the flag of the Philippines in the world-class conformation, with full of dedication and love to our passion. We made it!!!” he expressed.
Earlier in the competition, Dalbong was recognized as the Champion Class Winner. He also bagged multiple awards in local and international competitions, such as Best in Show in Philippine Circuit 2023, Impact Thailand Dog Show 2023, and Vietnam Dog Show 2022.
