The Department of Transportation (DOTr) is planning to build a subway that will connect Quezon City and Taguig City, making travel time in 31 minutes. The Mega Manila Subway is claimed as a hassle-free commuting experience for the general ridership, through convenient and consistent traveling from Quezon City to Taguig City.
The Mega Manila Subway will be the first subway system in the Philippines adopting the Japanese tunneling expertise.
This is part of the Build Build Build (BBB) masterplan of the Duterte administration, aimed to further propel economic activities by improving efficient interconnectivity to Filipinos.
Construction is planned to start in Q4 of 2019. The Mega Manila Subway is slated for completion in Q4 of 2024.
