GMG Productions announced that there will be a sign language-interpreted performance of the award-winning musical Come From Away on June 27, 2025.
The show is in collaboration with Filipino Sign Language (FSL) consultants and interpreters from the Benilde Center for Education Advancement of the Deaf (CEAD) and the School of Deaf Education and Applied Studies – Interpreting Education Program (SDEAS-IEP).
This performance will be interpreted in FSL live by Benilde’s FSL interpreters, enabling Deaf audience members to fully engage with the emotion, storytelling, and musicality of the production.
A dedicated orchestra seating section will be reserved exclusively for Deaf audience members and their companions to ensure clear sightlines and the best possible viewing experience for the interpreter. Access to these seats is available only through the promo code ACCESSSEATS, which provides a 20% discount.
In addition to the 20% discount, the standard PWD discount is available at physical TicketWorld outlets for Deaf or Hard-of-hearing patrons with a valid PWD card. This arrangement supports accessibility efforts and a welcoming environment for all attendees. Come From Away is the remarkable true story of 7,000 airline passengers stranded in Gander, Newfoundland, in the wake of 9/11. As fear and uncertainty gripped the world, the people of Gander opened their homes, offering warmth, generosity, and hope to strangers from all walks of life. This critically acclaimed musical is the winner of multiple Tony, Olivier, and Drama Desk Awards.
Come From Away features a book, music, and lyrics by Irene Sankoff and David Hein. The Manila production is directed by Michael Williams, with musical direction by Rony Fortich. Choreography by Delphine Buencamino, lighting design by Harry Tabner, sound design by Luke Swaffield, production design by Kayla Teodoro. Hair and makeup design by Myrene Santos, costume design by Hershee Tatiado, and dialect coaching by Joel Goldes.
