CMLI JC-AA Visayas Celebrates Waray Youth and Culture as They Launch “Ladawan: The Annual Waray Short Film Festival”

Junior Council – Alumni Association Visayas (CMLI JC-AA Visayas) launches their new project titled “Ladawan: The Annual Waray Short Film Festival” which seeks to produce Waray youth leaders and filmmakers who address social realities in the local, national, and global scale through the use of their mother tongue and maximizing the conventions of short films.

This event will officially be opened by keynote speaker Chito Roño, acclaimed Filipino writer, film producer, and film director known for his expansive vision and films.

Ladawan will feature several workshops and a roundtable discussion with Tikoy Aguiluz as the main presenter; and Jerry Gracio, Ligaya Villablanca, and Randolph Longjas as the reactors while they share their views and opinions on the theme as prominent figures in Philippine Cinema which is to be moderated by Alre Gaylon.

In specifics, it is a three phased online Waray film festival that shall be held over the course of five weeks. For its inaugural season, the film festival anchors its theme on the responsibility of the youth in a society when transitioning towards a better normal, “Kamo, Kita, Kabataan: An Baton ha Panawagan hit Katig-uban ha Mas Maupay nga Kabutangan.” Registration runs from September 20, 2021 to October 15, 2021 and is open to all junior high school and senior high school students in Eastern Visayas.
