Clay Ave. Pottery Studio: A fun and messy experience!

Once we were satisfied with our creations, Mia asked us to set them aside as the next session will be for firing/glazing them.

According to Mia, Stoneware clay is fired two times; first at 900ºC so that the pots become porous (bisque ware) and ready for glazing. And the second is fired up to 1260ºC after all the pots are glazed.

Amazing right?

After our session, I went around and saw some of the other students trying out the “wheel”/Potter’s Wheel.

All in all it was a fun and messy afternoon! I learned a lot and was actually able to create something out of a chunk of clay!

So if you want to have a fun, creative afternoon (especially this summer time!) head on over to Clay Ave. Pottery Studio to learn and create a thing or two as you pinch your way to your own creation!
