When In Manila, have some engineering fun. So that was quite an interesting saturday for me, indeed. Maybe I simply stumbled upon this, seriously. But, yes a Civil Engineering talk plus an awarding of a photography contest. Call that a perfect combo, since it is. When I entered UP few years ago (an understatement), my first college was actualy the UP College of Engineering. Figure that out in a moment. Yes, am quite interested in Engineering and science stuff. Surprise surprise.
UP Aggregates, Inc is a college-based organization in the UP College of Engineering, mostly compose of Civil Engineering students if not all. ‘Aggre‘, as it is fondly known, marks its 28 anniversary by doing series of events like a CE talk, Photofest, and a quiz show.
IntenCEty (CE Talk) is a symposium which primarily aims to present the Civil Engineering (CE) profession to CE engineering students from various universities. This event has grown to be the major event of the organization that is held annually, now on its 8th years. This year they do focus on Seismic Risk Assessment in the Philippines through Civil Engineering.
CE talk is actually quite fun, with around 1,600 engineering students from various colleges and universities. It is a great learning event, specifically for civil engineering studes. The speakers were actually experts or well known in their feild. They are namely; Dr Mario Aurelio, Ismael Narag, Ronaldo Ison and Mark Zarco.
The organizers actually have to do two parts with same set of speakers and topics since the venue can’t accomodate the number of students. Also, I want to highlight that the organizers were quite accomodating and organize. Great job guys!
