The U.P. Cineastes’ Studio is the country’s premiere film student organization based in the UP College of Mass Communication. With the aim to educate and promote fellowship among film enthusiasts, the organization has continuously been practicing its commitment to serve the film community in conjunction with the endorsement of film awareness, appreciation and understanding for 29 years.
This September, the organization will be having a month-long celebration of its 29th anniversary with the theme of Action! Insurgence for Purposive Cinema. Among these are film screenings under Cineastes Presents: The Comeback. This includes Erik Matti’s internationally-acclaimed film On The Job, various Cinemalaya 9 films, and the world premiere of Bang Bang Alley, in which Ely Buendia, one of the directors, is the organization’s alumnus. Other events such as a Philippine pop culture quiz show (D’ Original Jologs Quiz Show), a grand pakain and an exhibit will also be held.
