The day after Christmas, a desperate dad got his most fervent wish–for his beloved Baste, a one-year-old pooch, to come home. Baste had gotten out of their house in Mandaluyong when his dad had to be hospitalized last December 16. That was not a good day for his dad who immediately called out for help on social media.
Since then, he and his friends have been searching everywhere, at the barangays, at the streets where they normally walked, and beyond, hoping to run into him. They have posted notices of his loss on social media, begging people to help in the search. The dad also announced a 5,000-peso reward for anyone who can lead him to Baste.
The search was especially heartrending as it was during this time that baby Baste turned one year old.
Happy birthday baby Baste. 1 yr. old ka na today. Pasensya na kung di tayo magkasama sa birthday mo. Tandaan mo na mahal na mahal ka namin kahit magkalayo tayo. Kung sino man ang kumukupkop syo ngayon ay sana pakainin ka ng masarap dahil birthday mo. Eto ang favorite kong picture mo nung baby ka pa. Mahal na mahal kita Baste. Sana gabayan ka ni Lord habang magkalayo pa tayo.”-Papa
(translated) Happy birthday, Baby Baste. You are now one year old. I’m sorry that we are not together on your birthday. Know that I love you very much. I hope that you are being fed delicious food today. This is my favorite photo of you when you were still a baby. I love you, Baste. I pray the Lord will guide you while we are apart.
Thank goodness that Baby Baste had been safe all that time. Apparently, he was found by good Samaritans in Rockwell, Makati.
