Where and When to See Cherry Blossoms: Japan’s Sakura Forecast for 2025 (Latest Update)

The Japan Meteorological Corporation (JMC) has released its latest forecast for when and where cherry blossoms are expected to bloom throughout Japan this 2025.

The initial forecast, published on January 9, predicts Kochi, Fukuoka, and Kagoshima to have the earliest blooms around March 22 followed by Tokyo, Hiroshima, and Nagoya on March 24. Sapporo, Hokkaido will see the latest blooming date at around May 1. An update has revealed fluctuations of about a few days, but they will still generally bloom around the same time as initially thought.

JMC will release its next cherry blossom forecast update on March 6.
