“Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” Will Be Turned into a Series

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Roald Dahl fans, we have great news for you: Netflix is developing two series based on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and they will be directed by Taika Waititi.

The news was announced by Roald Dahl’s widow, Felicity Dahl, in an earlier statement.

She said, “Our mission, which is purposefully lofty, is for as many children as possible around the world to experience the unique magic and positive message of Roald Dahl’s stories. His partnership with Netflix marks a significant move toward making that possible and is an incredibly exciting new chapter for the Roald Dahl Story Company. Roald would, I know, be thrilled.”

One series will be an animated adaptation featuring the world and characters of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, while the other will be a “wholly original take on the Oompa-Loompas, that builds out their world.”

Taika is known for being the man behind Thor: Ragnarok, Thor: Love and Thunder, and the Oscar-winning Jojo Rabbit.

There’s no word when the series will air.
