The celebration of Women’s Month this March marks huge strides Women’s Rights have taken. But just because women have more freedom and independence now doesn’t mean that there still isn’t a long way to go for true equality. But the intersectional empowerment of women from all ages, sizes, and backgrounds is a start.
All over social media you’ll find women who are shamed for wearing clothes that some deem inappropriate for them. But women shouldn’t be restrained by how people think they should act or how they should dress. How many times have you felt uncomfortable in your own skin because someone thought it was appropriate for criticizing your weight or skin color? It’s time to understand that women have as much right as anyone to dress as they please without their character or appearance coming into question.
But no one has to spend too much to dress how they want to be perceived by the world. In a media launch on March 8 held at SM Mall of Asia, it was announced that SM Woman are trying to give Filipino women more budget-friendly options so they can treat themselves how they want to be treated.
