Cinema ’76 commemorates Pride Month with a week-long celebration of the best indie films that highlights LGBT themes and characters. Currently, the microcinema is showcasing movies from TBA Studios that feature memorable LGBT characters like Daddy Leo from the award-winning documentary Sunday Beauty Queen, the mysterious nurse, Lilibeth, from the psychological thriller Bliss, and everyone’s favorite gay BFF, Jason Ty, from the quirky romcom I’m Drunk, I Love You.
More movies will be added to the slate as Cinema ’76 starts its LGBT Week starting on June 23. Cinema ’76 is also working on bringing in more LGBT films to the audience by holding an LGBT Night each month.
“There have been a lot of well written, thought provoking, and entertaining LGBT films produced in the past decade and we are very happy to welcome them in Cinema ’76. Audiences can look forward to seeing more as we dedicate one night every month to these amazing films,” shares Vincent Nebrida, Cinema ’76 Co-founder.

Unfriend by Jay Altarejos
Inspired by the tragic story of two gay teens, the film delves into the psyche of a young gay teen cheated on by his boyfriend and the madness that consumes him as he tries to think of ways to get him back.
Kasal by Jay Altarejos
“Kasal” is a slice of life drama of a gay couple whose resolve to stay together is challenged as they attend a wedding. It is also is an examination on how a gay couple navigates through the different institutions in Philippine society.
Quick Change by Eduardo Roy, Jr.
Dorina, a transsexual, has a flourishing career in an illegal cosmetic surgery business. She is a mother figure to her nephew and acts as a devoted wife to Uno. She considers herself a lucky woman until Uno falls in love with another transvestite.
Jazz in Love by Babyruth Villarama-Gutierrez
This moving documentary follows the story of Jazz, a young man from Davao about to fly to Germany, his boyfriend’s home country, and tie the knot there. Meanwhile, his parents remain completely unaware of the radical changes that his life is about to undergo.
Ang Sayaw ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa by Alvin Yapan
Mixing dance, poetry, and desire, “Ang Sayaw ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa” explores the intersection and divergence between feminist and gay concerns in the third world context. The film stars Paulo Avelino, Rocco Nacino, and Jean Garcia.

An itinerant tattoo artist joins a talent reality show for lesbians in the hopes of winning the prize money that will enable her to get artificially inseminated and achieve her lifelong dream of becoming a mother.
Ang Huling Cha-Cha ni Anita by Sigrid Andrea Bernardo
This award-winning Cinefilipino entry tells the story of the 12-year old Anita, who falls in love with the new woman in town; years later, a girlhood crush blossoms during the Fiesta of Santa Clara in Obando, Bulacan.
Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros by Auraeus Solito
This coming-of-age film about a gay teen torn between his love for a young cop and his loyalty to his family is hailed as one of the more popular local indie films to break out from Cinemalaya.
