Titled โComedian,โ this duct-taped banana artwork was created by Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan. It was recently sold for $6.2 million in an auction at Sothebyโs in New York.
Sun noted that the artwork “represents a cultural phenomenon that bridges the worlds of art, memes, and the cryptocurrency community.” He also announced plans to eat the banana as part of a “unique artistic experience.”
The “Comedian” was unveiled in 2019 at Art Basel Miami Beach, which garnered so much attention that it had to be taken down. Since then, it has become a viral sensation, sparking global discussions. It was previously sold in three editions, each ranging from $120,000 to $150,000.
