Last July 15-17, the group behind Brewfest MNL launched Brewfest MNL Social at the Century City Mall in Makati. A spin off to the original Brewfest MNL, this social event was all about merging together local brewers with up and coming concessionaires and foodies.

With more than 50 brews to try, the three-day event boasted of an endless number of delectable food and beer pairings.

With a selection ranging from wheat, Belgium and even Indiana inspired pale ales; each brew has taken a liking and personality of its own, with its rich aroma and flavor made even better when paired with food.

Try pairing Bao’s with Belgium Ale, a spicy Hungarian’s with a strong IPA or El Jefe’s Elote Corn with wheat ale. With the special tasting beer portions, guests were able to enjoy various combos. Other popular pairings were made with Wrapped’s shawarma or bellychon wraps, Gourmelts mouth watering grilled cheese, crazy chick’s chicken wings with mango shriracha, the Burgery’s basket of bacon, and Global Grubs chorizo tacos.

The Brewfest MNL Social was definitely something worth gathering the troops for, as guests like Rhian Ramos, Sam YG, Slick Rick, and Erwan Heussaff took time to enjoy the craft. What made it even better is knowing that this is all in preparation for a bigger event. Before the year ends, Brewfest MNL will once again make it’s comeback with an expo of local craft brewers.

“The craft beer culture in the Philippines is quickly growing and there are a lot of brewers that people still don’t know about. That’s why we are inviting brewers not only within Metro Manila, but those from provinces all over the Philippines. The country is evolving, and it’s exciting to watch our own brands grow. We really aim to support local,” says Brewfest MNL organizer, Carlo Pastelero.

“We want to feature brewers, help them network with other brewers. It’s really about building and creating that community. We’re really excited about the next one. We want to continue to discover different ways of appreciating and enjoy craft beer as well as the people behind the craft. So look out!” says Carlo.
