Longtime ABS-CBN television host Boy Abunda couldn’t help but get emotional over the quo warranto petition for the cancellation of the ABS-CBN franchise during his show Tonight With Boy Abunda last week.
During the show, Abunda shared his opinion on the issue by bringing up what his mother always told him when she was still alive.
“Ang aking ina ay pumanaw noong December 1, 2019. I am saying this for the first time. Forgive my emotions, I haven’t talked about this. Noon, ‘pag tinatanong ako ng nanay ko tuwing napapabalita po ang problema ng prankisa ng ABS-CBN — I’ve worked here for over 20 years — sinasabi ng nanay, ‘Sana, huwag ipasara ang ABS-CBN kasi, ‘pag wala ka sa bahay, ito ang kasama ko at alam kong nariyan ka’,” he said, visibly upset as the issue was very personal to him.
“This is very personal. Para sa aking ina, ‘pag nakikita niya ang ABS-CBN, alam niyang safe ako, nandiyan ako, nagtatrabaho ako, at uuwi ako sa kanya,” he continued.
He then explained that the Kapamilya network has done nothing wrong and that they will continue to fight for the franchise renewal.
“Wala hong ginawang masama ang ABS-CBN, ilalaban ho natin ito nang maayos. We’ll continue to do what is right,” he said.
