‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ screenwriter works on new Whitney Houston biopic

Yes, we’re getting another biopic of an iconic superstar. This time, we are seeing the story of singer Whitney Houston. According to reports, the biopic will be called I Wanna Dance with Somebody, named after the singer’s hit song.

Anthony McCarten, screenwriter of the Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, will pen the screenplay. McCarten has also written Oscar-nominated films The Two Popes, Darkest Hour, and The Theory Of Everything, all of which are also biopics.

McCarten will be joined by the Whitney Houston estate and Grammy-winning producer Clive Davis, who signed Whitney Houston to her first recording contract. Reports also say that Stella Meghie is set to direct the biopic. No actors have been cast for the movie yet.

I Wanna Dance with Somebody will follow the life and career of the singer, who sadly lost her life in 2012 after drowning in her bathtub after a suspected drug overdose.
