Bluewater Panglao in Bohol: Family, Fun, and Unli Bacon!

When we finally reached our destination, we were all drained and our bodies involuntarily melted into the cozy lobby couches. But, as we were just pondering on taking a nap before dinner, the bright smiles of the staff immediately gave us a jolt of energy and triggered our brains to set vacation mode: on. We were welcomed by a refreshing lemongrass concoction from their very own garden and the warmest greetings from the resident manager: a good indication of the quality service that we were to experience throughout our stay.

When it comes to hotels, quality of service is always my top priority. It can make or break a vacation, which is why I was a bit impressed with the employees in Bluewater Panglao. Since day one, we had experienced impeccable hospitality from the staff. They were the epitome of politeness and charm. They were but genies in disguise; the kind of people that’ll cook you a dish off the menu and remain pleasant even at 11pm.

Like its neighboring regions, the food in Bohol is one of its best attractions. It’s a haven for seafood lovers and adventurous palates. As such, the resort’s menu is one that is innovative and imaginative. The in-house restaurant, Aplaya, serves both local and international dishes that feature native specialties distinct to the coastal nature of Bohol. And oh, they have an amazing breakfast buffet with a station just for bacon. How awesome is that? Ok, well, that ain’t new but who doesn’t love good crispy, oily, bacon! Other than that, the food was fresh and sublime! Their Pizzas are a must-try!

On Saturdays, they have a thematic dinner buffet, “Barrio Fiesta”, where they serve purely Filipino food and feature a jaw dropping performance from a cultural dance group. It was the cherry on top of a scrumptious feast! And I must say, a new and exciting way to preserve and promote our culture and history. Nostalgia started kicking in, but things got a wee bit more interesting when we were called to the floor to participate in the Tinikling dance. It was a lovely way to end the night!
