Bloggers Raise Php82,000.00 for Yolanda survivors

Through the #PiggyBankMovement, Blogapalooza was able to raise P32,671.00, which was donated to relief efforts supervised by the Junior Chamber International (JCI) Cebu Chapter for their relief operations.

Our partners from the #PiggyBankMovement said JCI Cebu is currently looking for more sustainable solutions to the problems caused by Yolanda, apart from the usual purchase of relief items. So, if you were one of the bloggers who attended Blogapalooza and donated what you can, give yourself a pat on the back because your donation will surely go a long way. Blogapalooza can never thank you enough!

For our part, WhenInManila.com and OurAwesomePlanet.com, the people behind Blogapalooza, decided not only to match your generous donation, but to donate the full Php50,000.00 we initially promised. The amount went to World Vision, which has launched  an emergency response to help affected vulnerable children and families.

Early this month, Typhoon Yolanda smashed into Central Philippines, wiping out entire neighborhoods and killing thousands. Thousands others survived, but they are still in dire need of food, water, medicines, shelter and clothing.

Yolanda is not only one of the most powerful storms to hit our country, but the strongest recorded typhoon in the world for 2013. But, you know what? No storm can ever break us. If we stand together and we do what we can to raise each other up, no storm can ever drown our spirit.

You don’t need to be a millionaire to help. You might think your single peso isn’t much, but if we all chip in, we will surely make a difference in the lives of Yolanda survivors. So, why not help When in Manila?
