When in Manila, Come watch Switchfoot LIVE on April 30, 2011 at the Philsports Arena!

I have been waiting for Switchfoot, a multi-awarded American alternative rock band, to come back to Manila for a concert since I missed the first one back in 2007. Now, the long wait is over! Switchfoot, which became more popular in the Philippines after singing tracks (Only Hope and Dare You to Move) for a Mandy Moore movie “A Walk to Remember”, is set to rock the stage of PhilSports Arena on April 30, 2011. This time, the band will be performing live for their Filipino fans to promote their seventh album, Hello Huricane, the album that won the Best Rock Gospel Album in the 2011 Grammy Award.

Originally from California, the band members Jon Foreman (lead vocals,guitar), Tim Foreman (bass guitar), Chad Butler (drums, percussion), Jerome Fontamillas (guitar, keyboard) and Drew Shirley (guitar) were able to succeed in the Christian rock scene and later on extending their music to a more diverse audience. Switchfoot music has been known for its strong guitar alternative rock feature and beautiful song lyrics that talk about hope, pain, love and life in general. I guess that’s how they create their music, they make the listener feel everything and own it, from the accompaniment to the lyrics.

Now that Switchfoot is coming to Manila, Filipino fans should fret no more. To promote Switchfoot’s upcoming concert in Manila, Blog the Beat was hosted by Becca Music last March 31. The event started with a human bingo where bloggers got to interact with one another, exchanging information which ranged from safe ones such as “has lived in Manila all his/her life” to more challenging ones like “can do a Darth Vader impression”. In this category, my friend, Cheryl Golangco of LittleRunningTeacher.com had the whole crowd laughing with her impressive Darth Vader’s breathing sound.
