‘Black Mirror’ Season 5 premieres on Netflix today!

Today’s the day Black Mirror fans have been (for more than a year) for!

Season 5 is set to launch on Netflix today! Like the trailer wasn’t enough, they also recently released the poster art for the three new episodes!

Just a recap for season 5: the trailer, which debuted only weeks ago, has confirmed that there will only be three episodes for this season. Although many are disappointed that it’s only half the number than the last few seasons, it’s exhilarating to see big stars such as Miley Cyrus and Anthony Mackie of Avengers starring in these episodes and posters. See the Black Mirror season 5 posters and plot details below.

Sherlock’s Andrew Scott, Snowfall’s Damson Idris, and Venom’s Topher Grace star in this episode. The plot is mainly a “cab driver with an agenda” in which they “become the center of attention on a day that rapidly spirals out of control.”

I can discern from the poster that 1.) the driver is pointing a gun to the passenger 2.) some sort of satellite map or GPS route is part of the storyline 3.) the car is an empty field along with electric towers and 4.) this doesn’t look like your typical yellow taxi cab so maybe it’s a car-hailing service?

I only wonder why the stars aren’t in the front and center of the poster, so I can’t wait to see what the story is really about.

“Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too”

When I first heard Miley Cyrus would be starring in one of the episodes, I got really curious about what her role would be like in a Black Mirror episode. The poster pretty much meets my expectations as it shows something about fame, singing and being all dolled up – literally. The story is said to follow a lonely teenage who “yearns to connect with her favorite pop star – whose charmed existence isn’t quite as rosy it appears.” Other than Cyrus, Every Day’s Angourie Rice and The Possession’s Madison Davenport will be featured in the episode as well.

“Striking Vipers”

The plot reads, “Two estranged college friends reunite in later life, triggering a series of events that could alter their lives forever.” Alongside Avengers: Infinity War’s Anthony Mackie,  Aquaman’s Yahya Abdul-Mateen II,  American Violet’s Nicole Beharie, Avengers: Infinity War’s  Pom Klementieff, and Aquaman’s Ludi Lin star in this episode too. The trailer suggests that Beharie and Mackie are a married couple who is going through relationship problems. The poster also suggests this as Beharie is positioned in the back but her hand showcases a ring.

Given Black Mirror’s focus on technology, the glitch on the left side of the poster could suggest the idea that technology is a factor to their marital issues.

We’re all expecting the same things from these episodes: dark entertainment and thought-provoking content we’ve surely loved from the award-winning show.

Who’s excited for season 5?
